Edmonton Fashion Week Continued

Faux-hawks and cornrow styled braids featured in Rebecca Pratt’s show

As we mentioned we have a few more details to share with you about our WCFW experience…

David Puyaoan, shown right, was the winner of the Edmonton Fantasy Hair Competition and he gave us a little more insight into his creation when we got to chatting with him after the show. Around the time he was brainstorming ideas for the competition, talk of the war seemed to surround him. He decided to integrate a war theme with airplanes in a halo of hair. It was his way of creating a juxtaposition and bringing beauty to something filled with terror. He works at Hennessey in Southgate and after seeing what he can create, we’d trust our hair to him anyday :)

Janis from Dress Me Dearly &
Andrew from High Gloss White

Since outside cameras were prohibited and we’re not cool enough to get a press pass yet, we don’t have any runway photos for you (we promise to be cooler in the coming months) but you can check out our new blogger friends sites. High Gloss White & Dress Me Dearly told us about the Fantasy Hair Competition from the night before and it looks like we missed a good show.

Brittany Oster of Dolly Darko

We also sat next to an up and coming designer named Brittany Oster and we LOVED her style! Her line is called Dolly Darko and she specializes in custom altered metal band tees for ladies. She has a show coming up in November which we’ll give you more deets on once we know them. Of course we chatted about her awesome pin-up style hair with deep purple coloring and found out she does it herself. I’m sure you could find some similar colors at Mars and Venus on Whyte Ave as Krissy suggested.
